Welcome to RightsTech Extra

Welcome to RightsTech Extra, The Rights Project’s premium member hub. It is written and edited by our director and co-founder, Paul Sweeting, who has been reporting on, analyzing, and writing about the intersection of media, technology and public policy since the days of the Sony “Betamax” case (Sony v. Universal City Studios), including stints with Billboard, Variety, Video Business, Publishers Weekly and GigaOM Research, among others.

The RightsTech Project was co-founded founded in 2016 by Concurrent Media Strategies and Digital Media Wire. Our mission is to provide a cross-industry platform where executives and professionals from the media and technology industries, the legal and financial communities, and artists and creators from all creative sectors can meet, discuss and share their experiences around technology innovation and the challenges and opportunities it creates for the management, licensing and monetization of IP rights in a world gone digital.

In addition access to this site, members will receive our premium newsletter every Monday and Friday, with news and analysis of developments with the world of rights-tech and the broader copyright and technology constellation. We also offer a free e-news every Wednesday featuring headlines from around the world.

While we’re based in the U.S., with offices in Washington, DC and Los Angeles, our perspective is global, in recognition of the global scale and scope of the media and technology industries, and the increasingly global effects of regulatory and policy developments.

We hope you enjoy it being part of our community.
